FAQs
When does the warranty on my cylinder start?
Your Gledhill warranty begins from the manufacture date of the appliance.
Where can I find the 12 digit serial number to register the warranty for my cylinder?
Not all Gledhill appliances have a serial number:
The 12 digit serial number on unvented cylinders (e.g. StainlessLite Plus) and thermal stores (e.g. PulsaCoil, BoilerMate) is printed underneath the bar code on the data label or information badge located on the appliance. It is also found on a dedicated label towards the top of the appliance. The first and last digits are spaced slightly away from the rest of the number, displayed in the following format:
X XXXXX XXXXX X
Please note that all 12 digits are required please.
If you have an open vented cylinder, a PulsaCoil or a BoilerMate, instead of a serial number, your appliance should have a delivery note (format A12345) and a job number (format XXX/XX). Again, this would be found on the appliance data label or information badge. Please ensure that you provide this information when registering your cylinder for the warranty.
I have registered my cylinder. How many years warranty do I have?
The length of warranty depends on the type of product you have. Please see below.
Thermal store appliances – 5 years on the cylinder & 1 year on components
Open vented cylinders – 10 years on the cylinder & 1 year on components
Unvented cylinders – 25 years on the cylinder & 2 years on the components
Please refer to our terms & conditions for further information.
My cylinder/appliance is leaking and it’s under warranty. How do I claim? What is the procedure?
If a Gledhill product is identified by the attending engineer as having an internal leak/manufacturers defect, and the appliance is within warranty period, the following is the action to take and what occurs:
- In liaison with the householder, the failed appliance should be removed and replaced in the normal way. At this point it would be normal for the customer/installer to cover the cost.
- The failed removed appliance should be returned to the merchant it was purchased from, (with, if possible, copies of the original invoice/delivery note. From the serial number we can assist with identifying the original merchant if required).
- The merchant would then contact our Gledhill Central Sales & Logistics Team to arrange for the failed appliance to be collected and tested.
- Gledhill will test the appliance to confirm the fault. Once the test is completed a report will be completed and sent to the merchant concerned. A credit will then be generated under warranty for confirmed faults and sent to the merchant for onward transmission to the installer etc.
- You can submit a claim to us for reasonable costs of the removal of the failed appliance and the installation costs of the new one. Please send this in with the failed cylinder or by email to technicalsales@gledhill.net, quoting the returns reference number for the returned cylinder, which is generated by Gledhill. Please use this or the collections note number generated by the merchant. All details of the failed appliance, including the serial number, copies of the original installation commissioning certificate and the annual service record (if applicable) should be included with the claim.
If the installer has an account with the merchant, the credit should be back with the merchant before the account falls due, and therefore the credit for the failed cylinder can be offset against the cost of the replacement. (Assuming it is same installer for both appliances).
How do I get a replacement part under my warranty?
If your appliance is still within its warranty period, the service engineer should take the details of the cylinder and contact the original supplying merchant. Gledhill will supply a warranty replacement part (at a set cost of £30, no postage and packing) via the merchant along with a warranty form and a return address label.
Once the part is fitted and the problem is resolved, the faulty part should be returned to Gledhill Supplier Returns at the address provided along with the completed warranty form.
Once the part is confirmed as faulty, Gledhill will refund the £30 cost and the engineer can also claim the labour cost of the work.
Do the dimensions of your cylinders include the insulation?
It depends upon which product. The dimensions for the open vented tanks and cylinders (e.g. EnviroFoam Stainless, EnviroFoam Copper, and Combination tanks) do NOT include insulation.
Dimensions for thermal store products and unvented cylinders are the overall size.
What’s the minimum acceptable mains pressure/flow for a StainlessLite Plus?
Information is provided on page 12 of the installation manual concerning mains water supply. For optimum performance, 3 bar pressure and a flow rate of 30 litres per minute is recommended. The appliance will work with lower pressures, however, it’s performance will decrease with low flow rate and low pressure. It should also be allowed for a drop in pressure of approximately 0.5 bar per building floor.

As a manufacturer Gledhill Building Products does not have field engineers to attend appliances.
